Reinstalling the launcher is typically a straightforward process: simply uninstall the current version and download it again!
The launcher files are relatively small so the download should be completed quickly. However, please note that uninstalling the launcher will also remove the game files stored in the SharedCache folder. To avoid having to re-download the entire game, we recommend checking that your game files remain intact during the uninstallation process. The steps for reinstalling the launcher only can be found below.
1. Get the latest launcher
2. Check the SharedCache folder
The default folder for SharedCache is C:\CCP\EVE, but the files may be in a different location if you picked a custom folder during your latest install.
- Click "Browse Game Files" to open the SharedCache folder. You can find it from the launcher here:
Once you have located the SharedCache folder, move it to another location on your hard drive before you uninstall the launcher. Uninstalling the launcher will also delete the SharedCache files and, without a backup copy, you will have to re-download the game.
3. Uninstall
- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, or alternatively Windows Settings > Apps, and find EVE Online and then press Uninstall. Don't worry, your client settings will not be wiped by this operation.
4. Reinstall
- Return the SharedCache folder you moved to a safe place back to the same location as before and run the EVE Launcher file that you downloaded earlier. It will ask you right away where you want to install the SharedCache and it should remember which location was chosen last time. So, if you have moved it back to the right place, just click next and it should be ready right away.
- Start the launcher
Now you should be able to run the launcher again, with all downloaded files intact!
