Expeditions are chains of assignments within EVE Vanguard that will earn you credits, materials, and rare weapons and items once completed. As you finish Expeditions, you will receive better standings with the related faction, and in turn, they will offer you riskier missions with better rewards.
While on Avalon, navigate to the "Expeditions" tab and choose from assignments provided by varying factions and with differing levels of difficulty ranging from Easy, Medium, and Hard.
Clicking on the “Orders” button under a expedition will show you a summary of what the assignment provider expects of you during deployment, and what objectives you will earn upon a successful completion.
If you would like to take on the assignment, click "Accept" and then click the next assignment marked in yellow and click "Activate". You will see the next assignment in the Expedition is now marked as In Progress.
Once you have accepted an assignment, Deploy from Avalon to the battlefield with your chosen gear and note the assignment objectives displayed on your Map screen. Your objectives will be updated as you complete them, so keep an eye on what is still needed while you are deployed.
After you return from deployment, open the Expeditions tab again to view your progress. If you completed an assignment during your latest deployment, rewards and progress will be waiting for you to collect.
